A WEEKEND IN SAN FRANCISCO
So this blog post is about 3 months overdue, but life got pretty hectic in a good way! Brett and I spent our one year anniversary exploring San Francisco for the first time. We absolutely fell in love with the city! We walked way too much, ate way too much and drank way too much Sonoma wine! Here are some of the sites we saw.
First off, we stayed in an adorable historic Airbnb in the Mission District. It was a block away from the Bart Train, and we pretty much felt like locals the whole time! It was our first Airbnb experience, and we couldn't have had a more generous host or a more gorgeous home. Here are some photos of the Mission District neighborhood. We really enjoyed all of the local murals that told the story of the Latino community.
We also couldn't pass up the famous Alcatraz. This was a must because Brett has a Master's in history and is a history teacher. The audio tour was super interesting and creepy at the same time! Everyone who visits San Francisco must do it!
Chinatown was on our list as well. We eat Asian cuisine a lot and always shop at Asian markets near our house. Here are some finds in Chinatown.
My favorite adventure was exploring Muir Woods and the Sonoma vineyards. We took a peaceful walk through Muir Woods in the morning. Not many tourists had arrived yet, and the vastness of the redwoods was mesmerizing. I could have stayed there all day. Photos do not do them justice. It truly was an incredible experience.
We went to three different vineyards after Muir Woods. All of the wine was delicious, but my favorite was the wine at Cline Family Cellars. We just had to take a bottle home!
Maybe a little wine drunk on the bus haha!
We also got to explore a few days with our friends from New Orleans! We walked along a beach that was near the Golden Gate Bridge. The water was so beautiful but oh so cold!
So there's a quick recap of our weekend getaway! We also went to some amazing restaurants and bars while we were there. Feel free to comment below and ask which ones! I'd love to help plan your trip as well! Happy traveling!
