The Lake Isabelle Trail is hands down one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever been on in Colorado. The hike is an easy 4.5 miles roundtrip through the Indian Peaks Wilderness, and literally has every type of Colorado scenery. It is a must do for a perfect Saturday in Colorado! The hike starts out with a quick walk through a beautiful forest, and then opens up to a valley with a stream running through.

The hike then continues through the forest alongside Long Lake. The lake is surrounded by some grassy marshland and is prime moose territory. Sadly, there were too many people on the trail to see any wildlife.

The last mile of the trail is the most beautiful. There are plenty of wildflowers along a flowing stream right before you reach Lake Isabelle.

I just had to do a short photo-op with my dog Gambit. :)

We finally reached the lake and it was absolutely breathtaking! You are basically in a real life postcard. We found a quiet spot on the side of the lake to eat lunch and fish. It was the perfect place to relax in the mountains.

My brother caught one fish in the lake and then we headed back down the trail. If you want an easy day hike I highly suggest this one. I recommend getting there early in the morning because the hike does get very crowded.
