COLORADO HIKING- ST. MARY'S GLACIER AND CHINN'S LAKE
Our move to Colorado has been quite the adventure. Thankfully, we have so many friends and family that helped us get here! We couldn't have done it without them!
We have been living in Denver for almost 2 weeks and have already done a lot of exploring! Our first hike was to St. Mary's Glacier. I had never seen a glacier before, and was pretty excited about the hike. You have to pay $5 at the parking lot and then hike about 3/4 of a mile up a steep, rocky incline to get there. Us Louisiana folks were definitely out of breath! It was also our dogs first time hiking in the mountains and they were having a blast!
The views of the alpine lake next to the glacier were stunning. There were even people jumping off of cliffs into the lake, and some daredevils sliding down the glacier on sleds. We sat and had lunch next to the lake and sadly the weather turned bad. We weren't able to walk up right next to the glacier because it started raining and sleeting. We will definitely be going back.
I would recommend this hike for anyone who wants a quick workout. It's not a difficult hike if you are used to the altitude, and the views are so worth it!
The next weekend we took a hike to Chinn's Lake. I was the one who picked this hike, and I didn't know it was mainly a rocky road and not a trail. The road up there is pretty bumpy. You need an SUV with all wheel drive to get up.
After freaking out a little about our Subaru (that could clearly make it up) we got to the small parking lot. The walk to the lake is about 3 miles up a steep, rocky road. Once we got to the lake it was packed! Groups of people were camping, fishing and kayaking on the lake. The views were gorgeous, even though the lake water was very low. We fished for an hour or so and didn't catch anything. I would recommend this spot as an awesome camp spot if you have the right vehicle, otherwise it is not a good hiking trail.

Hoping to hike Lake Isabelle Trail this weekend, so stay tuned for more beautiful scenery and hiking tips!
