Hey yall! So I recently took a trip to Ouray, CO over the 4th of July weekend. My brother and his girlfriend had been there before and were so excited to go back and see this beautiful mountain town. My brother kept telling me not to google photos of Ouray and spoil the surprise for myself. I didn't understand why they were so obsessed with this place. When we drove into the town and onto the main street I realized why they call it the "Switzerland of America". The little town is nestled in a small valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains. It was absolutely breathtaking!
We explored the main street and stopped to eat and drink some beers at the Ouray Brewery. The brewery has a rooftop bar with a perfect view of downtown and of course the mountains.
We then hiked up to Cascade Falls, which is a very easy hike right in town. You can hike up the side and stand in a nook behind the waterfall!
The next hike we did was to Box Canyon Falls. You pay a $3 to enter the canyon, which is totally worth it, and hike up a few hundred feet. Being inside the canyon is an experience I will never forget. The canyon is so deep (nearly 100 feet) and you can feel the force of the water rushing through. You then can hike up to the top (if you're not scared of heights) and walk across the suspension bridge that hangs over the canyon. Be sure to look down and see the waterfall below!
That night we relaxed at the Orvis Hot Springs. These hot springs are located 10 miles outside of Ouray, CO and have beautiful lush grounds and an amazing sunset view! There are 7 soaking pools and it is clothing optional. It was a perfect escape after a long summer day. (I don't have any photos because technology isn't allowed. Only pure relaxation. )
The next day we explored the bottom of the Baby Bathtubs Trail. The trail gets its name from the smooth bath tub-like rock formations that are carved from running water. To view more photos from the trip click here!
